International College of Angiology is a very old interdisciplinary scientific organization founded i
1958, and is composed of physicians, surgeons, and scientists from around the world working in fields related to the vascular system. The field of angiology brings together basic scientists and clinicians to enhance our understanding of the diseases related to the blood vessels, and to improve health care delivery. This organization encompasses primary care physicians, vascular, general, thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists, internists, interventional radiologists, organ transplant physicians and surgeons, neuro-physicians and neurosurgeons.
The objectives of the ICA are: a) to provide physicians evolving modern medical knowledge; b) to support and provide continuing medical education; c) to sponsor and conduct teaching workshops; c) to hold an annual world congress at various locations in the world to discuss new concepts and technical advances for the treatment of diseases related to the vascular system with special emphasis on clinical and basic research; d) to sponsor a periodical, International Journal of Angiology (Indexed), an official journal of ICA, International College of Surgeons (US Sections), and Asian Society for Vascular Surgery; e) to reward the members of ICA for excellence; f) to give awards to young investigators, residents, and undergraduate and post-graduate students for best clinical and basic research.
